A PROLIFIC fundraiser is celebrating after cycling the width of England to raise £3,000 for the annual Poppy Appeal.
Colin Northridge and his wife, June, of Thirsk, spent three days pedalling 140 miles from Workington, in Cumbria, to Sunderland.
Mr Northridge is the Royal British Legion's (RBL) county field officer for North and East Yorkshire and is keenly aware of the importance of raising money to fund the welfare work the charity undertakes each year.
Mr Northridge, 55, and his wife were supported along the route by ex-Royal Marine Ian Atkinson.
A tireless fundraiser, over the years, Mr Northridge, a former regimental sergeant major with the Royal Artillery, has completed numerous challenges for the RBL, including several London Marathons and a bungee jump.
He also ran 200 miles from St Bees, in Cumbria, to Robin Hood's Bay, and rollerbladed to RBL annual conferences around the country.
