DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a teenager have renewed an appeal for witnesses nearly 18 months after his death.

Scott Pritchard was found with severe head injuries outside his home in Lindsay Close, Hendon, Sunderland.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Sunderland Royal Infirmary, where a post- mortem examination concluded his injuries had been caused by a blunt instrument.

Mr Pritchard, 19, was single and lived with his mother, younger brother and sister.

He was well-known in Hendon and had a wide circle of friends.

He was found shortly after 7pm on January 7, last year.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Potts said the investigating team's determination to solve Mr Pritchard's murder has not weakened.

He said: "It has been a long 17 months for Scott's family, who have had to live with a daily reminder of where he was found with fatal injuries - outside his home.

"At the time of his death, Scott was completely reliant on using crutches after hurting his foot and was in no position to defend himself when he was attacked, showing just how cowardly the person or people who did this were.

"Murders can sometimes take a long time to detect, but this does not weaken our resolve.

"Someone, somewhere will have a vital piece of information, and we are again appealing to anyone who was in the area to come forward."

The number to call is 0191-563 6946 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
