POLICE have released an artist's impression of a man they want to speak to after a teenage girl was raped in her home.

The 17-year-old victim got in the taxi on her own from outside The Gate in Newcastle and was dropped at the St Anthony Shops on Walker Road a short time later between 11.20pm and 11.55pm on Sunday, December 6.

Sometime after the girl arrived home an unknown man entered her home and raped her.

Officers investigating the attack tonight released an artist's impression of the woman's attacker as well as a CCTV image of a man seen in the area at the time who police are keen to speak to.

Detective Inspector Tim Miley of Northumbria Police's specialist Rape Investigation Team, said: "Working with our officers she has helped to create an artist's impression of her attacker.

"He is described as being in his 30s with short afro style hair and very dark skin.

"We also have a CCTV image of a man seen in the area around the time of the attack who we wish to speak to as he may have important information about the attack which might help is in our investigation.

"We also still need to speak to the taxi driver who collected her at The Gate and dropped her off at St Anthony Shops on Walker Road."
