RESIDENTS are invited to a tea party in south Durham in aid of a cancer charity.

Dorothy Davison, of Bishop Auckland, is holding the party in St Anne’s Tea Room in the town’s Market Place on Wednesday July 8 to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The event, held between 2pm and 4pm, is one of many Blooming Great Tea Parties being held for the charity nationally between June 12 and July 12.

Ms Davison said: "This is about getting together with friends old and new and having a pleasant time. It doesn’t take much to boil the kettle and all money raised will make such a difference to many people long after the party is over.

"The more money we raise the more Marie Curie nurses can give free professional care and support to the terminally ill. What better reason to get involved?"
