ROBERT DINWIDDIE remains in contention at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters this morning, despite failing to repeat his opening round heroics yesterday.

Dinwiddie, who has embarked on his second season on the European Tour, carded a one-over par, 73, at the Doha Golf Club after a round which included five bogeys.

But the Barnard Castle golfer still sits tied 16th after his superb opening round 67, which has kept him just two shots shy of the top ten.

Dinwiddie’s chances of winning his first Tour title, though, looks unlikely, as leader South African Louis Oosthuizen is eight points further ahead.

Yorkshireman Simon Dyson is two shots adrift of Dinwiddie on two-under after he followed up his level-par 72 with a two-under 70 yesterday.

But Hartlepool’s Graeme Storm faces an even greater fight to climb in contention over the weekend after only just making the cut in the Middle East.

Storm’s successive 72s, with yesterday including three birdies and three bogeys, ensured he just scraped in above the mark that stood on one over par.

South African Oosthuizen stormed into a three-stroke halfway lead. The 26-year-old made a bogey-free sevenunder- par 65 to top the leaderboard on 12 under.

He dislodged former champion Andrew Coltart, whose solid 69 left the Scot a shot clear of Alvaro Quiros (67).
