A FESTIVE Mary is seeking a new home for Christmas as there is no where for her to stay at her animal rescue centre.

Mary, a Collie cross bitch, was left tied to the gates of the Blue Cross animal centre at Topcliffe, near Thirsk, recently.

The sad dog was left with no note shivering with matted fur and a few decayed teeth and lumps on her face.

Staff at the centre took her in and Mary, who is aged between 12-15-years, has been treated by the vet.

The problem for the staff is that the Blue Cross facility, at Topcliffe, is undergoing a £1.5m facelift.

This means it has no kennels at present in which to house Mary and so a new home for her is being urgently sought.

Mary has a minor kidney ailment and so is on a special diet but staff hope to find her a good home soon.

The kidney ailment means Mary will undergo regular checks at the vets.

But the Blue Cross will cover the vet’s bills for the problem and the special food she needs under its welfare foster scheme.

The Blue Cross has seen a huge increase in the number of pets dumped at its gates in recent months.

The Topcliffe centre will not be able to take in, or re-home, dogs until its new kennels are completed.
