Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash on a bridge near to a County Durham village.
Emergency services were called to Hurworth Burn Road, Trimdon, at around 1pm on Saturday (October 26), following reports of an incident on the bridge over the River Skerne on the stretch of road.
Police closed off the road to allow them and ambulance crews to work at the scene, with the North East Ambulance Service confirming that two people have been taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called to a two vehicle road traffic collision on Hurworth Burn Road, Trimdon shortly before 1pm this afternoon.
"We dispatched two double crewed ambulances and a specialist paramedic. Two patients were taken to North Tees Hospital."
It's unknown at this time the condition of the people that are in hospital.
Durham Police has been contacted for a statement about the incident.
