Greggs has been urged to change its policy on dogs in stores after receiving several complaints from dog owners over the last few weeks.
The food giant, which has hundreds of stores across the UK and started in Newcastle, has become a popular choice for people for breakfast, lunch or a quick snack.
But fans of the brand have started to question why dogs aren't allowed in Greggs' stores - with some highlighting that other well-known high street brands have started to welcome dogs in shops without a problem.
This comes after there has been several instances across the UK of customers being turned away from Greggs stores due to having a dog with them that wasn't a service animal.
Greggs told to change policy on dogs allowed in shops:
Taking to social media, one user noted that "well-behaved dogs" should be allowed into Greggs, saying: "Loads of people have dogs and take them into town and city centres, why shouldn't people take their dogs into shops?"
Meanwhile, another person chimed in: "It's better than dogs tied up outside the shop—Greggs needs to start letting dogs in."
However, not everyone online was a fan of allowing dogs into Greggs, with one person saying: "I can understand why Greggs wouldn't want that - dogs could be running around, and it's a food business, you have to think of those that have allergies."
Responding to the suggestions to make Greggs a dog-friendly business, a spokesperson for the big-name brand said they allow assistance and service dogs in all their customer areas.
“At Greggs, we strive to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our customers," they said.
"Our policy is to welcome customers with assistance or service dogs in all customer areas of our shops.”
This comes after The Range said it would now be allowing dogs into its stores.
