A man has been charged after an alleged stabbing in Stockton.

Emergency services were called to Stockton High Street on Monday (September 30) after a 35-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his neck and arm on a bench. 

The man was taken to the University Hospital in North Tees, in Stockton, for further treatment. His current condition is not known. 

Officers later arrested a 30-year-old man.

Denzel Munzare has since been charged with section 18 wounding in connection with the alleged incident and appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court on Tuesday. 

Munzare, of West Row in Stockton, was remanded to appear in court again on Tuesday, October 29.

A full statement from police said: "A 30-year-old man appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with section 18 wounding in connection with an incident in Stockton on Monday 30th September. 

"A 35-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his neck and arm on a bench on Stockton High Street, before being transported to the University Hospital of North Tees. 

"The 30-year-old was remanded to appear at court again on Tuesday 29th October."
