Garden centre chain Dobbies has announced it is planning to close 17 of its garden centres by the end of the year including one in the North East - here's where.
In a huge blow for shoppers, the chain's Gosforth centre will be one of 17 across the country to be closed by the end of the year pending restructuring plans.
The Gosforth store, which is marked as one of the chain's larger sites, opened in 2019 after it was rebranded from Wyevale Garden Centres.

It said that 465 of its roughly 3,600 workers will be affected by the planned closures.

A Dobbies spokesperson has said: "We are implementing a Restructuring Plan to address historically uneconomical rent costs and to create a strong platform to return our business to profitability, access future investment, and to ensure a sustainable, long-term future for Dobbies.
"We are sorry to confirm that this includes the closure of our Gosforth store. Subject to the Restructuring Plan being approved, we expect this store to cease trading by the end of the year. Until that time, the store will remain open as usual."
