Pictures show charred debris left behind after a bed was set on fire in Darlington.
It happened on Mickleton Close on Sunday (September 29) evening just before 8pm.
Firefighters rushed to the scene where a bed frame and mattress had been set alight.
The fire was put out and the wreckage left to be cleared up.
Pictures show a pile of debris left at the scene of the blaze including what appear to be wooden bed slats totally blackened by the flames.
A spokesperson from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) said: “At 7.56pm on Sunday, we received a report of a fire in the open in Mickleton Close, Darlington.
“One crew attended the scene. They extinguished the fire and alerted partners to allow for clean up before leaving the area.”
