A US company employing hundreds in the North East has completed a huge merger deal.

Amentum, which employs nearly 300 people in Stockton and Newcastle, announced the completion of its merger with Jacobs Critical Mission Solutions and Cyber and Intelligence businesses.

Amentum provides engineering design, safety case, control and instrumentation, and project management support for the nuclear industry throughout the UK, including the construction of Hinkley Point C and support for the UK’s existing power stations.

It is also involved in the development of new types of small modular reactors. The Stockton office also serves the defence and renewable energy sectors and provides procurement, construction support and commissioning services.

The new deal creates a global leader in advanced engineering and innovative technology solutions, positioned to address complex challenges.

The new executive leadership team will be led by John Heller, who will serve as CEO. Dr. Steve Arnette will serve as Chief Operating Officer, Travis Johnson as Chief Financial Officer and Jill Bruning as Chief Technology Officer of Amentum. Steve Demetriou will serve as Executive Chair of the company’s board.

Jacobs’ shareholders will own 51.0% and Jacobs will own 7.5% of the company’s common shares. An additional 4.5% of the company’s common shares will be released in the future depending on the achievement of profit targets.
