Three people have been arrested after going on a shoplifting spree in Darlington.
Officers from Durham Police caught three women from outside the region with £2000 worth of stolen goods in the back of their car after shoplifting in the town.
Following the incident, the police force issued a statement, thanking shops and other businesses for providing CCTV and statements about the shoplifting.
A spokesperson for Darlington's neighbourhood policing team said: "Three ladies from outside our area thought a little retail therapy would be a fun day out
"Sadly, they took it a bit too far with their five-finger discounts, racking up nearly £2,000 in stolen goods
"The officers figured they must have had quite an exhausting shopping spree, so arranged for them to enjoy an overnight stay with us. Complete with the finest custody accommodations, of course.
