The opening date for the County Durham branch of a Thai restaurant chain has been announced.
Zaap Thai will be opening the doors to their new branch, on Durham's Riverwalk development, on September 26, at 12 noon.
To celebrate their new venture, Zaap is offering the first 100 hungry diners the chance to get their hands on two of the restaurant’s most popular dishes for just £5.
Classic Pad Thai, and a selection of Zaap's vibrant and warming curry dishes with Thai green, Thai red, panaeng or massaman curries are all on the special £5 menu.
Zaap's Durham venue promises to be one of the brand’s largest locations to date, with room for up to 120 guests inside the Bangkok-inspired venue, along with 20 seats on the outdoor terrace.
Guests will be transported to the bustling street food markets of Bangkok, where they can explore some of the most vibrant and exciting flavours that Thailand has to offer.
There are more than 80 traditional dishes on the menu at Zaap.
Firm favourites like Pad Thai and gang massaman will be complemented by a huge array of "diverse and exciting" dishes including grilled whole sea bass with special Zaap sauce, Thai papaya salads, dim sum, bao buns, platters, curries and more.
An open kitchen will give guests the opportunity to watch as their dishes are crafted by the Zaap team, whilst signage and bespoke street-style artwork will add to the traditional East Asian atmosphere.
The drinks menu, which includes bubble teas (boozy and soft) and Thai-inspired cocktails will add to the unique and authentic Thai experience.
Founder and Executive Chef, Ban Kaewkraikhot, shared her excitement for the new opening: “Durham is a fantastic city, and we’re thrilled to open our doors on September 26 to welcome the people of Durham to Zaap.
