A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a fight at a County Durham petrol station.
Emergency services were called to the Esso Garage in Ropery Lane, Chester-le-Street, just before 11pm last night. (Thursday, September 12)
A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called to reports of men fighting in a car outside the Esso Garage in Ropery Lane, Chester-le-Street, just before 11pm last night (September 12).
"A man in his 30s suffered an injury to his ear, eye, and mouth and was taken to University Hospital of North Durham for treatment. He has since been discharged.
"A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and taken into custody where he remains today."
A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident last night (12 September) on Nelson Road in Chester-le-Street at 11.28pm.
"We dispatched one ambulance crew to the incident and one patient was taken to hospital."
