A Met Office spokesperson said: "A chilly start with some early mist patches clearing to give a fine morning with light winds and plenty of sunshine.
"Slightly cloudier in the afternoon but bright and staying dry. Perhaps breezy over the Cheviots. Maximum temperature 15 °C.
"A dry and largely clear evening. Becoming increasingly cloudy later in the night and breezy over hills, perhaps leading to patchy low cloud over the highest summits by dawn."
