Plans to demolish a County Durham building to make way for a holiday home have been 'finally disposed of' by Durham County Council.
The application, which was thrown out by the council on Wednesday, proposed the demolition of an existing derelict stone structure to pave the way for a holiday cottage at the rear of 4 Horsemarket, Barnard Castle.
Despite being backed by Barnard Castle Town Council, Durham County Council has decided against the construction.
The planning application, submitted by applicant David Robson, had outlined details such as the site's location, materials to be used, drainage, parking, and tree removal.
The term 'finally disposed of' indicates that the application is no longer active.

Councils can mark an application in this way under several circumstances, including the local authority's decision-making process time expiring without any verdict, the applicant withdrawing their application, or the conclusion of an appeal process against the authority's decision.
There was no disclosure at this stage as to the reasons for the application's disposal by the council.
The project had initially been devised to replace an existing derelict building with a new holiday cottage, a change welcomed by the local town council.
As it stands, Durham County Council's decision on this matter appears to be final.
