Northumbrian Water have confirmed there is a leak from a main water pipe in Newton Aycliffe.
A team is on the way to carry out emergency repair work to stop the flow of water.
Water supplies in the area may be affected and it is hoped a fix will be in place by 10.15pm.

Northumbrian Water will be working on it as a "priority".
A Northumbrian Water spokesperson said: “We have identified a leak in a main water pipe in Wycliffe Close, Newton Aycliffe, and are treating it as a priority.”
It is not clear whether any customers have been affected.
