Eight comedy shows will take place at The Witham in Barnard Castle later this year - including appearances from the likes of Ed Byrne, Clinton Baptiste, and Count Arthur Strong.
Teesdale-based comedy promoters Funny Way To Be Comedy, operating out of The Witham, have unveiled its line-up of major touring comedy shows, featuring some of the biggest names from TV and radio.
Running from September to November, these eight stand-up comedy events promise "a side-splitting journey for audiences of all ages and comedic tastes," according to organisers.
Peter Dixon, spokesperson for Funny Way To Be Comedy, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming season: “This year’s autumn schedule is packed with a diverse array of talent, offering something for everyone. We’ve curated a programme that includes household names and rising stars, ensuring every show is a must-see event.”
Funny Way To Be Comedy has urged people to get their tickets soon, with Count Arthur Strong (November 30) already sold out, and limited tickets remaining for Clinton Baptiste (October 4).
The season begins on September 17 with the Scummy Mummies duo, presenting their Greatest Hits show.
On September 28, veteran comedian Gavin Webster returns to The Witham with his unique brand of comedy. Expect sharp one-liners, dark observations, and ukulele comedy songs that will leave you in stitches.
Ed Byrne, one of the most critically acclaimed comedians of recent years, brings his show “Tragedy Plus Time” back to The Witham on October 16, following a previous sold-out performance.
Known for his appearances on Live at the Apollo, QI, and Mock The Week, another sell-out is expected.
Globetrotting comedian Dom Joly takes the stage on October 24, sharing his take on some of the strangest conspiracy theories he’s encountered during his travels.
On November 14, Brennan Reece and Zoe Brownstone, fresh from their hit performances at the Edinburgh Festival, present a double bill of their hour-long shows.

Peter Dixon added: “2024 has been an incredible year for us, and we’re keeping the momentum going right through autumn and into 2025, with six shows already on sale for the new year. With ticket prices ranging from just £6 to £32, our shows offer fantastic value for money in an intimate setting.”
