One person has been taken to hospital following a motorcycle crash which closed a North East road today.

Emergency services were alerted to a collision on Trunk Road in Grangetown, near the junction to Greystone Road at 4:23pm on Thursday (August 8).

The North East Ambulance Service dispatched a paramedic ambulance to the scene, where a person was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital with hip and leg injuries.

A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 16.23 today (8 AUG) to a road traffic collision on the Trunk Road in Grangetown near the junction to Greystone Road.

"We dispatched a paramedic ambulance who treated one patient following a collision between a motorcyclist and a car. One patient was taken to James Cook Hospital with hip and leg injuries.”

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said earlier: "Officers have closed Trunk Road westbound and eastbound and the Teesport roundabout due to a road traffic collision.

"Drivers are urged to avoid the area whilst the incident is dealt with. Thank you for your patience."

The road has since cleared.
