A police chase involving a suspected stolen Nissan Qashquai ended when it crashed into a stationary vehicle before hitting a wall in Darlington yesterday.
Two men have appeared in court following the pursuit through the town on Thursday.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Officers chased down a Nissan Qashquai which is believed to have been stolen as part of a 2 in 1 burglary at an address in Darlington.
"Along with car keys, a hoverboard, a hoover, trainers and a Wifi router were also taken as the owner and her children slept upstairs.
"The car was subsequently spotted by officers in Hundens Lane, Darlington, and a pursuit began when it failed to stop.
"It then collided with a stationary vehicle before hitting a wall in Houghton Road."
Two men in their 30s were arrested at the scene and charged with several offences including burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, going equipped for burglary and dangerous driving.

They did not enter any pleas when they appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court this morning and have been remanded into custody.
The men are next expected to appear at Teesside Crown Court on September 2.
