A yellow thunderstorm warning remains in place across the west of the UK, including Cumbria.

The weather warning is in place from 12pm noon to 10pm on Sunday May 12.

The met office said heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to some disruption in places, especially to travel. While isolated property flooding is possible.

We are told to expect spray and sudden flooding which could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

The Met Office said that where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

There is a slight chance a storm could cause power cuts and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

There is also a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life, particularly in places such as road and railway underpasses.

While floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds pose a ‘small’ risk to

homes and businesses which could be flooded quickly and damaged.
