THIS talented group of Knutsford Rugby Club players has become accustomed to winning trophies.

Indeed, they have now finished the past four seasons with silverware – but this year was particularly special.

Following a dominant campaign, the club’s under 17s team picked up both the Cheshire Cup and the North West League Cup and in the process became the first side to win both trophies in one season.

They beat Stockport in Sunday’s League Cup final having also bested them to lift the Cheshire Cup the previous week.

It caps an excellent run for the players, most of whom have been playing together since first joining the club at the age of five.

As a group, they are certainly the jewel in the Knutsford Rugby Club crown as the longest-serving and most successful team since their formation 20 years ago.

The future certainly looks bright for the boys, many of whom are on the academy books at Sale Sharks and have earned representative honours for both Cheshire and Lancashire.

The club are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year having been formed on the back of England’s memorable Rugby World Cup win in 2003.
