A POLICE officer visited a primary school to change the perception some children have of the force.

PCSO Dyson went to Roberttown Primary School, in Liversedge, to teach pupils about "people who help us".

His aim was to help the children understand that police officers are there to make them feel safe.

He was keen to teach them that they should not be afraid of those in uniform.

PCSO Dyson said: “For years, officers have heard parents and guardians telling children that if they are naughty then officers will “take them away.”

“However, ensuring that young people aren’t afraid of officers, and know that if they are scared or concerned they should speak to someone whether that be a teacher or police officer it is invaluable regarding safeguarding young people.”
