A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being knocked down in a collision involving two cars in Durham last night (Saturday, November 18).

The incident led to the closure of Milburngate Bridge in Durham, causing traffic disruption for people leaving Lumiere 2023.

Police were called to the scene after reports of the collision at about 10pm. A man in his 30s was treated, before being taken to hospital. 

A Durham Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a collision on Milburngate Bridge, in Durham City, at 10pm, on Saturday, November 18.

"It involved two cars and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

"The road was closed while collision investigators attended the scene."

The road closure resulted in Durham County Council notifying passengers the Belmont Park and Ride having to pick up passengers outside Tesco on Claypath under Student Castle.
