A quad bike described by residents as causing as a ‘nuisance’ has finally been seized by police after multiple complaints.
Police received several reports from concerned residents regarding the bikes loud noise levels and anti-social behaviour in the Meadow Well area of North Shields.
Locals also reported significant damage to communal areas including torn-up grass, destroyed benches and street fixtures.

Using public intelligence, Northumbria Police then tracked down and seized the vehicle as the rider made off on foot before the force arrived.
Colin Lowther, Neighbourhood Chief Inspector for the area, thanked locals who put their trust in the police and led the vehicle to be safely taken off the streets for good.
He said: “This is a positive result for the residents who put their trust in us to be able to take this vehicle out of commission.
“We know the aspects of anti-social behaviour surrounding quad bikes and motorcycles is a concern for many residents across the area. We want to reassure you – this will not be tolerated.

“Seizing vehicles suspected to be involved in this type of disorder is just one example of our proactive approach to tackling reckless riding in the community.
“The public are our eyes and ears in the community – please know that your intelligence is vital, and we will continue to take positive action to address any concerns reported to us.”
Northumbria Police have said that enquiries are ongoing to find the rider, as the public are urged to come forward with any information they have quoting log NP-20230419-1013.
