Police have appealed for information after a motorbike rider was killed in a crash in Northumberland today (Friday, March 17).

Shortly before 2pm officers from Northumbria Police received a report that a man on a motorbike on the B6341 in Alnwick had been involved in a collision.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Part of the road is currently closed still due to investigations taking place.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision in Northumberland.

“Shortly before 2pm today, we received a report that a man on a motorbike on the B6341 in Alnwick had been involved in a collision.

“Emergency services attended and despite the best efforts of paramedics he sadly passed away at the scene.

“His family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.

“A section of the road is currently closed to traffic to allow for investigations to take place.

“Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them.
