ENGLAND'S participation in the Euro Championships may have been curtailed, but the nation will still be represented at its table football equivalent.
A team representing England will be among 32 other "nations"
at the tournament in Darlington.
It was the idea of community development worker Martin Landers, who said: "All we ever seem to get is pool, snooker and darts.
We need to get more courageous with our pub sports."
He hopes to invite Sir Elton John, who is playing a concert at Darlington Arena, that day, to take part.
Mr Landers said: "He is a football man, a big Watford supporter.
It would be brilliant if he came to this."
The 64 games of the tournament will be played in the Forum Music Centre, in Borough Road, Darlington, on Saturday, July 5, with a £100 prize and a half-time football quiz.
