A huge spider was spotted spreading terror - and delight - among families in a North East town at the weekend.

The arachnid's surprise appearance formed part of a unique Halloween event in Bishop Auckland.

Hallow’s Haunt took was held outside of No.42 on the town's Market Place.

The event saw a huge troll and inflatable spider parade around the centre, much to the excitement of families and children.

A monstrous troll trudged around as many took pictures with the Halloween creation.

Later the inflatable arachnid battled the conditions as the wind picked up and could be seen crawling around the Market Place.

The event was branded a “fantastic day” by organisers, adding: “Plus the sun was shining with was an added bonus.”
