A former 80s heart-throb turned soap star, an orchestra playing Ibiza classics and a clutch of glamourous drag queens helped ensure a charity Ladies Day was 'one of the best yet'.

The Durham-based Angel Trust charity hosts a fundraising Ladies Day twice a year and its latest event at Sedgefield's Hardwick Hall on Sunday was hailed a huge success.

Entertainment was provided by former Spandau Ballet and Eastenders star Martin Kemp whose DJ set went down a storm.

The Ibiza symphonic orchestra delighted attendees with their unique take on club classics and gaggle of drag queens led by Ferryhill's Tess Tickle hosted the event with much humour and glamour.

Clair McGregor, chief executive of the Angel Trust, said it isn't yet known how much was raised by the event, but she praised all those who attended for making it such a memorable occasion.

She said: “It was a fantastic atmosphere, I think it was one of the best we have ever had in four years of running them.

“The atmosphere was lovely, we never, ever have any trouble and we have all these ladies who come together and create such a friendly atmosphere and raise money for charity – it’s just fantastic.”

The next Angel Trust Ladies Day takes place on April 23, 2023 and tickets went on sale today (Monday, October 3) available from the charity’s website.
