CAMPAIGNERS have demonstrated in the region to show concern over Britain's role in the US Missile Defence programme.
The Yorkshire Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament took part in the demonstration at the Menwith Hill base on the North York Moors.
The Breaking the Links demonstration was organised by the group yesterday.
The group held a two minute silence to show support for those against US plans for bases on their soil.
Dave Webb, of the group, said: "We continue to show our support to all those who oppose the US military programme that will enable the launch of US missile attacks on any country, without fear of retaliation.
"At Menwith Hill we will take time for a two minute silent contemplation for all those suffering as a result of the US war machine."
