Monster trucks, motorcycles displays and fantastic fun fair rides will be among the star attractions at a community carnival this weekend.

Paul and Lucy Evans, from Carnival Fun Fairs, will stage the event at Hackworth Park, Shildon, on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11.

The event, which includes a world food court and an all-day day bar presented from a London Routemaster bus, will feature exciting stunts and a human torch.

The gigantic fairground includes a continental ferris wheel, a Victorian vintage carousel and the massive Star Flyer ride, which recently appeared at Edinburgh Hogmanay as well as all of the usual favourites.

The carnival is being held in aid Quinn's Retreat, which was set up to support people bereaved by suicide by Tracey Beadle after he daughter took her own life aged 17.
