A new Starbucks drive-thru will mark its grand opening later today (August 26) by offering the first 100 customers free merchandise and other benefits to those that turn up early.

The coffee giants, who have numerous other outlets across the UK, will open its 90th store when the ribbon is cut, and the first drink poured later today on Bridge Street in Blaydon.

Run by 23.5 Degrees, Starbucks first UK franchised business partner, the store will create 20 jobs for the local community and provide commuters with a place to recharge before work.

To celebrate the new opening, the store will be offering free Starbucks reusable cups to the first 100 customers.

The store will also host a live coffee tasting event on the Blaydon Starbucks Facebook page at 11am.

As well as it becoming about the business, the Blaydon Drive Thru will also support the local branch of Maggie’s cancer care charity.

It will help to raise funds and provide complimentary coffee and refreshments for charity meetings.
