Whilst much of the region was bathed in hot sunshine and bright blue skies this weekend, a thick fog rolled in over coastal areas and hung over the Whitby Regatta.
The regatta kicked off on Saturday (August 13) but the fog sadly put paid to the planned Red Arrows display in the afternoon.
The iconic planes did flypast the event but were unable to perform their usual aerial acrobatics due to the low visibilty caused by the fog.
And the fog continued to hang over Whitby today (Sunday, August 14) for the second day of the regatta.
Organisers were hopeful that the sun would manage to burn through by the afternoon and enable the planned Lancaster bomber flyover and allow sailing to take place.

Despite the weather conditions affecting events in the air and at sea, there is still plenty to do on land at the regatta.
The West Cliff is hosting an assortment of activities and attractions including fairground rides, inflatables, funfair games and displays of classic cars and motorbikes.
Motorbike racing also took place on the beach.
A spectacular fireworks display is scheduled to wrap up events on Monday night from around 9.45pm.
