A man in his 30s has been arrested after he crashed his car and following a pursuit with police later abandoned his vehicle.

The incident happened on Sunday, August 7 Southbound on the A19 near Osmotherley at around 6.20am.

A black Land Rover Range Rover crashed and after failing to stop for police at the scene was later abandoned away from the A19.

The man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences following the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, or anyone who remembers seeing the vehicle before the incident, to get in touch as soon as possible to help the investigation.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “In particular, we are appealing for dash camera footage from vehicles travelling on the northbound or southbound sections of the A19 at betweet 6.10am and 6.35am.
