The North East is set to be scorched by another heatwave this week kicking off with hot temperatures today – here’s when it will peak.
The Met Office has revealed that today there will be a bright start for many in the region, however cloud will develop through the morning.
Dry conditions will remain, leading to hazy sunshine and a maximum temperature of 24c today.
The heatwave is expected to peak as the week progresses with some areas of the region set to see temperatures as high as 28c on Thursday.
Here’s when the heatwave is expected to arrive this week
According to the Met Office the heatwave is expected to peak on Wednesday and Thursday this week, with most areas seeing temperatures of 27c or over.

During this period dry weather and long sunny spells will lead to very warm or hot temperatures, which are likely to increase day on day.
Newton Aycliffe is set to see some of the highest temperatures on Thursday at 4pm with 28c.
In Middlesbrough, temperatures are set to peak on Wednesday between 4pm and 7pm with temperatures reaching 27c.
Darlington will see similar temperatures on Wednesday with a predicted 27c at 4pm.
What’s the weather like for the rest of the week?
After Thursday temperatures are set to steadily decline again dropping to around 22c in Darlington on Sunday, still warm, but not scorching.z
In Newton Aycliffe the picture is the same, however, temperatures will drop to a respectable 24c.
The full long-range forecast between Friday August 12 and Sunday August 21 reads: “The start of the period will likely be fine and sunny for most.
“Cloud and outbreaks of light rain may be seen in the far northwest on Friday, along with possible coastal mist or fog.

“Winds are expected to be mostly light and temperatures above average, becoming warm in the north and hot in the south.
“Into the weekend and through next week, mainly dry and settled weather will likely continue for most.
The north is expected to see the most of any precipitation, but there is also a low risk of thunderstorms developing in the south.
“Temperatures will likely be very warm, locally hot for much of England and Wales, especially across the southern parts, but closer to normal while still warm elsewhere.”
