A doctor faces a misconduct tribunal after he allegedly completed cremation forms while excluded from a North East hospital.

Dr Kyaw Htin is accused of a string of allegations, which include attending Darlington Memorial Hospital to complete a Cremation 5 form.

He is alleged to have been convicted of three counts of making false representations between February-September 2019 and was ordered to pay a £1,500 fine.

Dr Htin was first registered in 1978, but his career was thrown into doubt when he was excluded by County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust on March 26, 2019.

A medical practitioners tribunal service hearing is now set to take place on August 22 and is listed for four days.

A statement read: “The tribunal will inquire into the allegation that, on 26 March 2019, Dr Kyaw Htin was excluded by the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (‘the Trust’). It is alleged that, on more than one occasion, Dr Kyaw Htin attended the Trust’s Darlington Memorial Hospital to complete a Cremation 5 form while excluded.

“It is also alleged that on 24 February 2021, at the County Durham and Darlington Magistrates’ Court, Dr Kyaw Htin was convicted of three counts of making false representations between 25 February 2019 and 11 September 2019 and was sentenced to pay a fine of £1,500.”
