Crowds lined the streets of Bedale today (Friday) to celebrate members of RAF Leeming being given the freedom of the town.
RAF staff and a band from Leeming marched along the High Street through the town centre to celebrate the occasion in front of civic dignitaries and hundreds of onlookers.
The freedom award and parade marked the culmination of an 80-year relationship between RAF Leeming and the people of Bedale.
A special Illuminated Address scroll, which effectively gives staff from the station the freedom of the town, was presented to RAF Leeming ahead of the parade.

Station Commander Group Captain Gareth Prendergast received the scroll from Bedale Mayor Amanda Coates last week and it formed part of today's parade.
A spokesperson for RAF Leeming said at the time: “This is a special presentation from the town of Bedale to RAF Leeming and it is an absolute honour.
"We are part of the community and they are part of us, we have a great relationship with Bedale which is our nearest town and this marks that connection.”
