A huge turnout is expected to send off a well-known Darlington legend - as a big name in music has led tributes to him.

Kenny ‘the beard’ Dryden died on July 15 following a long illness.

The 64-year-old was a much-loved character in the town, known for his love of scooters and music.

Family friend Joe Mackenzie said: “He showed us so much support as a family. After my dad died he became like a father figure. He didn’t have any kids of his own but he was so selfless. He cared more about everyone else than himself.

“He would have talked to anyone. When you went out anywhere with him he would stop 10 times to speak to people because he was so well-known.
