AS Queen Mary’s College in Basingstoke marks its 50th anniversary, we look at some of its most famous students.

One of those is Max Harwood, who attended Bishop Challoner School before QMC.

Max has enjoyed much success in his acting career to date. He is most famous for his 2021 starring role in ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.’

He said: "I owe my personal success and growth to QMC’s course leaders, who guided and pushed me to achieve my potential.”

Other famous alumni include:

Sarah Beeny - broadcaster and entrepreneur. Best known for presenting UK property shows such as Property Ladder.

Shelley Conn - actress best known for her role as Ashika Chandiramani in the BBC series Party Animals and as Princess Pondicherry in the 2005 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Monty Don - horticulturist, broadcaster, and writer who is best known as the lead presenter of the BBC gardening television series Gardeners' World.

E O Higgins - fiction writer, podcaster, and performer.

Elizabeth Hurley - actress and model. Best known film roles include the part of Vanessa Kensington in Austin Powers.

Tanita Tikaram - singer-songwriter with chart success with the singles "Twist in My Sobriety" and "Good Tradition".

Alex Thomson - fward-winning television journalist and newscaster.

Kathy Smallwood-Cook - former elite athlete and Olympian, regarded as one of the most successful female sprinters in British athletics history.

James Bye - actor who has portrayed the role of Martin Fowler in EastEnders since 2014.

Jeff Minter - video game designer and programmer who often goes by the name Yak. He has designed many well-known games throughout his career.

Max Harwood- actor, best known for his lead role as Jamie in ‘Everybody's Talking About Jamie.’

Sima Kotecha- television and radio journalist working for the BBC.

Jodie Steele - actress, singer, dancer, and teacher who has starred in several West End shows.
