Plans have been submitted that could see separate residential letting accommodation in a popular historic pub in Durham.

The Court Inn, found on Court Lane in Durham, could see its first floor and converted roof space turned into separate residential accommodation.

The ground floor bar and restaurant would continue to operate, however, the plans have indicated.

However, this area would be refurbished as part of the redevelopment of the site, including a new kitchen ventilation unit.

Plans would see the existing brick lean-to building in the courtyard demolished and a new entrance would be created for the upper-floor accommodation.

The plans argue that the development would be “sympathetic to the character and appearance of the building.”

It adds: “The development will restore and refurbish a redundant building providing a viable use for this non-designated heritage asset.”
