Tributes have been paid to a motorcyclist who tragically died following a collision in County Durham.

Emergency services were called to Esh Winning just after 12.30pm yesterday (Friday, July 1).

A motorcycle and Vauxhall Crossland were involved in a collision at Priestburn Close.

Aaron Morris, the motorcyclist, sustained critical injuries and was taken to University Hospital of North Durham.

The Northern Echo:

Sadly, Aaron died from his injuries several hours later.

The 31-year-old was described as a much-loved family man by his wife Samantha.

She said: "Aaron was a true family man and treasured by all those who knew and loved him.

“He was a much-loved husband, son, father and brother, and will be sadly missed by us all.

“We wish to thank everyone for their support, and ask now to be left in peace so that we can grieve together.”

An investigation is underway into the circumstances of the crash.

Collison investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have any dashcam footage relating to the collision.

Anyone who can help is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 160 of July 1.
