The Motown legend, Diana Ross has appeared to snub Chester-le-Street after her ignoring all references to her gig in the town.

The legendary singer, who is known for songs including I'm Coming Out, Upside Down and Chain Reaction, played in front of thousands at the Seat Unique Riverside on Wednesday.

As part of her Thank You Summer 2022 tour, the 78-year-old was in big demand as thousands had waited months for her big Durham appearance.

However, shortly after the gig fans were quick to share their "disappointment" as they said the singer had appeared on stage late and the show was much shorter than expected.

And now, it appears Ross might have downplayed the gig, seemingly ignoring any references to it on her social media so far.

On Instagram, Ross uploaded a selection of clips from her performance at Lytham Festival that she had carried out 24 hours before her Chester-le-Street gig.

"It was such a blessing to sing to you from my heart. I’m so grateful for all of your love."

Despite some crticism, other Chester-le-Street gig-goers were quick to praise the music icon with some calling the show ‘fantastic’ and another praising her as ‘magical’.

After the gig one fan said: "Well Diana Ross was fantastic, what a great night!"

While another added: "She sang brilliantly from the off [...] Loved her and feel so grateful to have seen such a living legend so locally."

The Seat Unique Riverside will play host to Canadian singer Michael Bublé next Wednesday (July 6).
