An investigation has been launched after an early-morning crash saw a 17-year-old man with leg injuries and a Land Rover on its side.

The incident happened shortly after midnight this morning (Sunday, June 26) as police received reports of a suspected crash and that a Land Rover Freelander was on its side on Cargo Fleet Lane, in Middlesbrough.

The Land Rover had crashed with a silver Nissan X-Trail before overturning on its side.

A number of occupants were seen to flee from the Land Rover and one of those people, a 17-year-old man, was hit by the Nissan soon after.

Police and ambulance attended the scene and the Nissan X-Trail was located in the area of Turford Avenue.

The road was subsequently closed and remained closed for much of the morning until it was re-opened again.

Police are now appealing for dashcam footage or CCTV footage, which shows the two vehicles around Cargo Fleet Lane at the time of the incident.

Footage of the crash is also desired by police.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police, said: “Anyone who witnessed any of these incidents or has information which may assist police is asked to call 101, reference 109753.

“Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org and you don’t have to give your name.”
