A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in in Wallsend.

Nathaniel Wardle died following an alleged assault on St Hilda's Avenue, in Holy Cross on Monday (June 20).

He suffered serious injuries consistent with having been caused by a bladed article and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mohammed Rabani, 18, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on a video-link from prison charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

The charges were not put to him during a brief hearing and he was told he may stand trial on November 15. There was no application for bail.

The court was told two other suspects are being interviewed in connection with the incident.

Rabani, of Weldon Crescent, Heaton, Newcastle, was remanded in custody until a plea and trial preparation hearing on July 22. A trial date was set for November 15.
