A MAN is to stand trial later this year for a series of sex assaults alleged to have been committed on a woman.

Andrew Taylor is charged with three counts of sexual assault, plus a fourth offence of voyeurism, alleging that he covertly filmed the woman doing a private act.

Appearing via video link at Durham Crown Court from the city’s nearby prison, where he is on remand, the 36-year-old defendant, of Office Street, Easington Colliery, denied all four offences.

The defendant will be required to provide his statement outlining his defence case to the allegations by September 1.

A trial, estimated to last between three and four days, was agreed between defence and prosecution counsel, to start at the court on December 7.

But the defendant will appear back before the court on July 11, when further charges of witness intimidation and malicious communication will be put to him, both relating to the same complainant as in the allegations denied by him.

Judge Ray Singh remanded the defendant to remain in custody, in the meantime.
