An octogenarian McDonald’s employee has celebrated a remarkable anniversary.

Employee Florence Milner, 82, last week celebrated her 30th year of continued service to the McDonald’s orestaurant on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough.

Florence started working at McDonald’s as a customer care assistant in June of 1992 aged 52, and is still thriving in the role she started in three years ago ago.

Florence celebrated her 80th birthday in 2020 - however, due to isolation requirements she was not able to celebrate with her colleagues.

Franchisee Dean Fitzmaurice’s staff came together to celebrate her 30 years at the restaurant.

Florence’s business managers said when she is not at the fast food restaurant assisting customers, she can be found at the local bingo club with a pint.

Melissa Fitzmaurice, people manager at the fast food restaurant said: “Floss is a real hit with the customers, they often say to me how full of personality she is.

"Customers always come and say that Floss brightened their day by making them laugh.”

One of Florence’s colleagues, Jamie Wood, said: “As we go through life, we often meet unique individuals.

"Some inspire us, some influence us and some teach us. Floss is a version of all of these, an influencer, a teacher, and an inspiration.”

Florence said: “I can’t believe how quickly time flies by - it seems like yesterday I started my time at McDonald’s.

"It was very sweet that my colleagues came together to celebrate my time at McDonald’s, I was very touched.

"I love working with everyone here, we have a lot of fun and its great getting to see familiar faces each day.”
