There’s no shortage of restaurants, takeaways and food shops in Middlesbrough.

However, not all are as clean as you might expect, with 24 sites in the town slapped with a zero or one food hygiene rating. We’ve pulled them all together in one list and they will all have to make big improvements to up their score.

For those rated a zero, urgent improvements are required, while a one means that major improvements are necessary. These ratings were taken from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website as they appeared on June 17 2022.

Since these scores were dished out some of the businesses have new owners, some have high hopes for their next inspection and others are busy training their staff.

Read on for the full list in the town.
