Canadian fast food restaurant chain, Tim Hortons, has today (Monday, June 20) officially opened its doors in Teesside.

The new restaurant and drive-thru is now welcoming customers with its famous coffee, freshly baked doughnuts and convenient hot meals from 6am till midnight, seven days a week.

Some, including Mario Cassar and Ian Hammond, were lucky enough to be at the front of the queue and be awarded a free breakfast and a year's supply of coffee worth £3,000.

The highly-anticipated restaurant opened its doors at Teesside Park for the first time today and celebrated by gifting the first drive-thru and restaurant customer free coffee, every day for the whole year.

Famed for its unrivalled, round-the-clock offering, the brand will run a month of giveaways including free drinks and doughnuts as well as exclusive deals including any breakfast meal for £2.99 which includes a main breakfast item, small hot drink or orange juice and a hash brown.

These promotions will be available to anyone who activates their Tim Hortons digital card, redeemed via scanning a QR code within the store.

Customers in Teesside can now get their hands on its best-selling items, including Timbits, iced capps, freshly baked doughnuts and Tim's crispy chicken sandwich as well as its newly launched menu which includes beef burgers, hot dogs, and lattice fries.

Kevin Hydes, chief commercial officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, commented on the opening: “We are delighted to be opening the doors to our new restaurant and drive-thru at Teesside Park. The positive reaction from the local community has been overwhelming, and we are thrilled guests can now experience our famed Canadian offering in Teesside, many for the first time. Customers should keep their eyes peeled for our latest promotions to celebrate the launch!”
