A WOMAN died in a hit-and-run incident on Sunday evening.

Police were called to Boosbeck just after 10.45pm after a female pedestrian is believed to have been in collision with a dark coloured vehicle.

The vehicle, believed to be an SUV-type car, did not stop at the scene, on Boosbeck Road, Skelton Green, and continued towards Skelton village after the collision.

Formal identification of the woman is yet to take place, however, her family members have been informed. A statement from Cleveland Police added: “Our thoughts remain with them at this very difficult time.”

Officers are appealing for the driver of the vehicle to come forward and are also appealing to anyone who may have information regarding a dark coloured vehicle with front end damage.

Any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage who may be able to assist with the ongoing investigation is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number 105462.
